Classification of Flake Ice Machines

Jul 16,2021
Flake ice machine is one kind of ice-making machines. According to the water source, it can be divided into fresh water flake ice machine, sea water flake ice machine, and it is generally industrial ice machine. Flake ice is thin, dry and loose white ice with a thickness ranging from 1.0 mm to 2.5 mm. The shape of the slices is irregular, and the diameter is about 12 to 45 mm. Flake ice has no sharp edges and corners and will not stab objects to be frozen. It can enter the gap between the objects to be cooled, reduce heat exchange, maintain the temperature of the ice, and have a good moisturizing effect.

Flake ice has excellent refrigeration effect and is characterized by a large refrigeration capacity and fast speed, so it is mainly used in various large-scale refrigeration facilities, food quick freezing, concrete cooling and so on. Generally, the classification of flake ice machines is as follows:

I. According to daily output
1. Large-sized flake ice machine (above 20 tons)
2. Medium-sized flake ice machine (3 tons to 20 tons)
3. Small-sized flake ice machine (0.5 tons to 3 tons)

II. According to water source
1. Fresh water flake ice machine
The fresh water flake ice machine uses fresh water as a water source to produce flake ice.
2. Sea water flake ice machine
The flake ice machines that take sea water as a water source are mostly used for nautical purposes. The marine flake ice machine is designed for marine ice-making operations. It adopts a semi-enclosed piston compressor with a deepened oil tank and a marine seawater condenser, which can not be affected by the rocking of the hull and is not corroded by seawater.

III. According to whether it is movable
1. Container-type flake ice machine
The flake ice machine can be placed in a 20-foot or 40-foot container, which saves capital expenditures and is convenient to move and maintain.
2. Non-container flake ice machine
Non-container flake ice machines refer to ice machines that cannot be moved in a container.

Due to the flat shape of flake ice, it has a larger surface area than that of ice of the same weight with different shapes. The larger the contact surface area is, the better the refrigeration effect is. Moreover, the production cost is very economical. Flake ice is widely used in food processing, manufacturing, concrete cooling and other fields.
